FIGO Global Webinar

Dear Colleagues,

We hope that you are well!

We are emailing to let you know that our next FIGO global webinar will take place on Thursday 17th September at 12.30pm UK time (BST) on Ethical and Professional Challenges to Obstetrician-Gynecologists of the COVID-19 Pandemic

This FIGO Webinar will address the ethical and professional challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic for obstetric and gynecologic practice.

Topics will include the need to consider ethical obligations to each individual patient in the context of the entire population of patients served by a hospital, which is called frameshifting; the need to prevent ethically unjustified allocation of organisational resources away from obstetrics and gynecology, which is called ring-fencing; and the ethical challenges of responsibly managing organisational resources in a public health emergency.

Each member of the FIGO Committee on the Ethical and Professional Aspects of Reproductive Medicine and Women’s Health will briefly describe ethical and professional challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic in his or her region. There will follow ample time for questions and discussion.

The speakers will include:

  • Dr Faysal El Kak (Lebanon) – Introduction to FIGO Webinars
  • Dr. Sanjay Gupte (India) – Introduction to New FIGO Ethics and Professionalism Guidelines: Menstrual Hygiene Management; Responsibly Managing Clinical Variation to Improve Quality; Ethical Challenges of the Covid-19 Pandemic
